Once upon a time on a First Friday, I tipsily stumbled along the streets of Chinatown and fell in love…with a dress.
It was one of Roberta Oak‘s and this was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. I love all of her dresses (made in Hawaii yay!) and I seriously would be happy if my closet magically transformed all of my boring black dresses into some of her colorful ones.
Here’s a couple of the pieces from her Spring 2012 collection:
1. Joe Dress – $146
The Joe is the original dress I fell in love with (mine is denim with a fuchsia fabric belt). I love the neckline and the cut–it fits AWESOME. It also has pockets (I have a thing for dresses with pockets) and cute little wooden buttons. Awfully cute with some boots? I think she releases this dress in new colors every season–this season, it comes in pink and chocolate gingham.
2. Quaint Dress – $164
I want to say the Quaint is her most popular style–its one of those dresses where you see stylish ladies walk past and wonder where the heck they got that dress! (If you’re a Hawaii yelper, the Quaint is as-seen on the awesome Emi H.) And I spy with my little eye: the Joe dress in Chocolate Gingham.
3. Kate Dress
Roberta’s website is being revamped so I can’t find any info on this dress but I. Am. In. Love. Stripes are very “in” this Spring and I tend to like earth tone colors versus the very very bright stripes I saw at Forever21/Kate Spade last night while strolling around Waikiki. From the comments on her FB page, it looks like this dress is made of organic material and runs a bit big (and is a little longer.) I hope it comes with the belt, I love the contrast!
I’m kind of bummed, I spent last First Friday at the ridiculously busy Punahou Carnival. I guess that means I’ll have to head over to her store on a non-First Friday! Here are the hours:
