Succulent Centerpieces

The first thing I think of when I read the word, “Succulent” is….super juicy pears!  This post is about the other Succulent.  You know, kind of like a cactus?

Living Garden arrangements like this one are sold at Foodland and Whole Foods Stores in Hawaii

I first fell in love with succulents when B bought me a little arrangement of them for my birthday.  If we get married, I was thinking of making/buying succulent centerpieces!

Something like THIS would be perfect.  But perhaps smaller.

I figure guests might like to take something like this home versus a giant glass with an orchid stem in it?  (That’s what I used to want.  My mom brought one home, it was BEAUTIFUL!  Hard to transport, though)

– Whole Foods/Foodland sell little succulent ornaments.  Great gift for co-workers?
– Awesome if you need to dress up your outdoor patio table
– Slightly reminds me of lettuce.

Gift DIY: Jingle Bell Bracelet

Seriously, this Saturday.  DECEMBER.

2012 just flew by but I am ON IT for December!  My Mom, Dad, AND Grandma have birthdays coming up (all taken care of, CHECK!) and I am going to start making these bracelets as a small gifts for my extended circle of girlfriends!

Voila: The Jingle Bell Bracelet.  Well techinically, it’s pretty much a fishtail braid with some beads woven in but I swear–doesn’t it remind you of jingle bells?  Without the tinkling?  (Hmm.  Maybe I’ll tie on a mini-bell with the buckle.)

Aww, I like them!  They’re so cute.  And festive.  I can’t wait for December!

November 2012 Birchbox: Give

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! If you’re out hunting on Black Friday, best of luck to you–hope you get the stuff you set out for! (This post is queued, as I haven’t decided if I was going to start my Christmas shopping at Ala Moana at midnight/6AM)

Mikaseven’s November 2012 Birchbox

Mmm, chocolate.  That’s always a winner, right?  This month, I got:

  • Miracle Skin Transformer – Vanish – Instant Imperfection Corrector
  • Chuao Chocolatier Assorted ChocoPod (I spy potato chip?)
  • Atelier Cologne Rose Anonyme Petite Cologne Absolue
  • Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray Travel Size
  • Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer

I am really happy with this month!  Everything is very holiday friendly.  I’ll definitely be using the concealer/corrector and luminizer for family pictures and holiday parties.  Perfume is meh for me but gourmet food will always be a winner in my book.

This is a dumb question: Can I bring the Oscar Blandi Spray on the plane?  I figure: NO because it’s probably aerosol…but if it’s just a regular spritz bottle, then YES? (For the wedding I have to go to in Hilo!)

I peeked at a few Birchbox posts on Makeuptalk.  DANG those girls are awesome!  They were able to see all these variations of birchboxes.  What did you guys get?

I’m also contemplating on renewing my Birchbox subscription for next year.  So far, I love the service but it’s not a “must-have” for me. I’m also considering jumping ship to IPSY.  Hmm.  Maybe I’ll renew as a Christmas present for myself?

P.S. A good way to give new life to your old Bircboxes is to use them for Christmas presents! If you have small things to give to your girlfriends (like a pair of earrings, maybe some nail polish), you can wrap them in festive tissue paper, and tuck into a Birchbox.  Instead of wrapping the entire thing in paper, I tend to cut a long strip (maybe an inch or two side) and wrap that lengthwise over the Birchbox logo and finish with some ribbon.

I am thankful for…(Pumpkin Spice Rolls)

Some of the things I’m thankful for:
– Having the quirkiest yet loving family ever
B, who always makes me laugh
– Being able to celebrate Thanksgiving with good food and good people
– All things involving Pumpkin and Spice

Awesome idea if you need something new to bake for Thanksgiving but are tired of making the same ‘ol pumpkin crunch?  If you make it, don’t forget to invite me over!  I’ll bring a fruit salad.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Bridesmaid Gift: Solemates

I know Winter isn’t traditionally “wedding season” for most people, but in Hawaii, it’s wedding season all year! I’m actually going to a wedding next month!

Besides attending year-round weddings, I also tend to go to a lot of outdoor weddings. At the last one we went to, I wore my favorite shoes–these black slingback pumps with a stiletto heel. They are AWESOME–unless you are standing on a lawn. I SANK. I tried to stand on my tip-toes but I ended up poking all these tiny holes into the grass. Oops.

Thank goodness for Soulmates!

You know, the other kind of sole?  (Haha?)  I think these would be great to give your bridesmaids if you’re having an ourdoor wedding.  Don’t forget to pick up a pair for yourself!  I’m definitely going to swing by the Wedding Cafe to pick up a pair.

They don’t look too obvious, do they?

P.S. The Wedding Cafe is located at Ward Warehouse. They’re definitely a one-stop-shop when it comes to all of your wedding needs!
