September 2013 NatureBox – Discovery Box

My first Naturebox came in the mail. 😀  Hurray!

Tah-dah!  Every month, NatureBox can send you 5 nutritionist approved snacks that taste great!  These snacks are all made without high fructose corn syrup, partially hydrogenated oils, artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors/colors, and trans fat.  If you’re like me and are looking for less processed snack options, this box might be a good fit for you.   So far, I’m loving it!  This month, I got–

1.  Lemon Tea Biscuits

I absolutely love that these cookies are bite-sized—it really does help with portion control.   These cookies have just enough buttery and lemon-y flavor to make them delicious and not too heavy.   I’ve been popping 3 or 4 of these babies after lunch to finish off with something tasty but not too sweet.

2.  Whole Wheat Blueberry Figgy Bars

I really love these!  My mom raised me to love Fig Newtons and I think of this as a healthier, whole-wheat version.  In Blueberry.  I think whole wheat snacks tend to be a bit…dry but that isn’t the case with these bars.  I’m really glad that the filling isn’t too sweet but I wish there was a little more of it.

3.  Country Ranch Sunflower Kernels

I was a Corn Nuts person when I was a kid.  WHYYY??? *sigh*  When I ate these kernels for the first time, I instantly thought of gross snack food memories but was instantly comforted that these snacks are 100% times better.  In taste, too!  I wasn’t too happy with getting this snack (blah Ranch flavored things) but they are really flavorsome and addicting!   This might be one of my favorite snacks in the box.

4.  Garden Tomato Almonds

Again, when I saw this snack, I was on the fence about it.  Garden Tomato…Almonds?  Umm….okay.   After my first taste, these babies grew on me.   It’s an interesting flavor, and not something that I associated with nuts (more like chips, if anything) but it works!  The tomato flavor isn’t overpowering and it compliments the slight saltiness of the almonds really well.

5.  Big Island Pineapple

Random fact of the day–Pineapple was introduced to Hawaii when a ship from Mexico crashed into the Big Island.  But…from my experiences of living here…Oahu is more known for pineapple than the Big Island is? (I mean, hey!  We have the Dole Pineapple Plantation on the North Shore…)

Alright, I’m getting off the point but long story short–these pineapple rings are DELICIOUS.  They are so fresh, you’d think they just picked it that week.  The chewy texture and balanced sweetness are amazing.  I also didn’t taste that kind of…slightly metallic aftertaste that I get with other dried fruit.

I absolutely loved my first NatureBox!   I was instantly in love with some offerings and pleasantly surprised by others and I definitely do not regret signing up….

…especially since I got all this for $10!  TEN BUCKS.  Really.  If you’d also like a box of yummy, scrumptious yet healthy snacks for only TEN BUCKS (!), click here

*Note–the regular price of this box (5 snacks) is $19.95 which includes free shipping if you’re within the continental US.  The $10 promo is only for your first box.  It comes every month, but if you’d prefer to receive it every other month, just email Naturebox Support and they’ll change it for you.   I’ve got my fingers crossed that my next box ships with some chocolate in it!
