POPSUGAR Special Edition Must Have Resort Box – 2015

Hi guys!  A quickie while I’m in Japan for work–I just placed my order for POPSUGAR’s Resort Box for 2015.  They do resort boxes once a year (I think–it’s like a seasonal box, right?  I think?).

This box is a one-time charge of $100, free shipping.  What do you think?  I LOVE travel/beachy themed boxes because I travel (A LOT) and I live in state with a beachy-kind of mind.  These two things combined with SURPRISES are just up my alley!  (I’m also bummed that Liz from MSA [My Subscription Addiction] cancelled her box.  I thought she was an amazing curator–I just got off the waitlist, too–but I can only imagine that it must be a LOT of work.  Oh well, guess I can try this one, right? ;])

People LOVED last year’s resort box.  This is what Jennifer of Ramblings of a Suburban Mom got last year (she’s got a super cool blog!).  I LOVE that clutch and the turkish towel and overall, I thought the items were really fun!  Luxury shower gel?  I would never buy it for myself (and sometimes I say ‘meh’ when I unwrap it) but when I use it?  I’m in heaven for the rest of my shower.

Knowing POPSUGAR, I feel like I won’t get this box until…idk.  April.  But that’s fine–that’s the start of warmer, summer weather for me!  :]  Have a great weekend, everyone!  (It’s Friday in Japan–we’re a day early)

Bulu Box: February 2015

Hi guys!

First off–I know my postings have been all over the place lately (aka very few and far between).  Life has been crazy!  B and I are studying for our licensing test (we’re in the same field.  WHY are they testing us on college things 4 years after graduating???).  Also–we got a puppy!  This is Zuko, our black and tan Shiba Inu puppy.  :3 :3 :3

So in between studying and puppy chasing, I figured I needed a little help with the nutritional side of life…(and there was an AMAZING Groupon/Amazon/Livingsocial deal).  Which is why I’m back with Bulu Box.  This isn’t my first rodeo with them–I had a 3 month subscription that I liked…but I didn’t think it was all that great.  The box I got from February was awesome though!  Here’s what I got:

Doesn’t the box remind you of a Lululemon bag with all its catchy, inspirational sayings?  I love the color.  BUT ANYWAY:

  • Vitaperk: Coffee additive that adds a vitamin and mineral boost to your daily joe.
  • Mediterranean Snacks Baked Lentil Crackers: Natural, Gluten-free alternative to trans-fat filled chips
  • Balance Bare Bar: Natural energy bars that are a perfect mix of chewy, crunchy, sweet, and salty.
  • Sant Dried Superfruit Beverage: Use 1-2 pieces of Sant to your water bottle for a subtle earthy flavor that can help promote digestion, regulate sleep and mood, and contains anti-inflammatory properties.
  • truBrain: Delivers brain-boosting ingredients that have been proven to enhance focus, attention, calm, and visualization.

This box is perfect for me!  Coffee in the morning, crackers for a snack.  Bare Bar in the afternoon, superfruit drink all day long, and truBrain for studying.  I was really pleased with ALL the items in this box (in the end, this box cost me $5).

It also came with a little pamphlet with 28 Heart Healthy Tips.  #25: Pet a puppy or kitten.  Pet therapy can help lower your stress.

February 2015 Birchbox: Friendship

Awwww, the theme for the February Birchbox is friendship.  :]

That’s cute. :3 :3 :3

Here’s what I got in my box this month:

  • Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
  • Supergoop! Daily Correct CC Cream SPF 35+
  • Juice Beauty Green Apple Cleansing Gel
  • Marcelle Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover for Sensitive Eyes*
  • BeeKind Conditioner

This box is…interesting!  I was expecting more of a…idk.   A box with items that you could break up and share with your friends (like a mini pack of 2), but I guess you could always share these with your friends and it’d be the same!

I’m definitely going to be keeping the eyeliner for myself (EYELINER WOOHOO!!!) and I’m tempted to keep the CC Cream, but that’d go to Mom.  The Green Apple Gel to my sister (I LOVE Juice Beauty products.  They smell kind of strong in that organic sorta way but they work really well for me!).  The Makeup Remover will go to BF, who applies 50 coats of mascara…and I guess I’ll keep the Conditioner too.  No shampoo to go with it? That’s kind of interesting.  I have gotten one BeeKind product before, I liked it!  It was really smooth and not too sticky or sweet smelling.

What did you guys get this month?  I have been really bummed!  I swear, for the past 3 months, the special curated boxes have included an item that was unshippable to Hawaii Alaska.  What is it???  I’m curious–an aerosol spray or something?  Not to say that I don’t love my box (I do, it’s AWESOME), just curious.

PS: Valentine’s Day is this Saturday!  Any plans? If you live in Hawaii–here’s a great place to start!

Influenster Frosty VoxBox Review: EcoTools Hair Brush

You guys know how these always start:  Influenster provided this product to me, free of charge, for testing purposes.  TESTING, you say?  Then let’s start!
One of my favorite items in the Frosty VoxBox was this EcoTools Hair Brush.

Voila! The Detangler.

From the Product card:
EcoTools hair brushes are designed with unique features that leave your head and hair happy and healthy.  Long or short, straight or curly, EcoTools has the brush to tame any hair style with a variety of brush head shapes and bristle designs specially crafted to suit every need.
EcoTools makes a bunch of hair brushes but the one I got was the Smoothing Detangler Hair Brush.

Smooth through tangles in a breeze! Our fan favorite paddle brush has a unique bristle design and cushioned paddle that glides through hair for gentle detangling — dry or wet. Plus, when blowing dry the brush dries hair 20% faster* due to its aerodynamic Eco-Vent™ design. Less time drying allows for less heat damage and quicker prep time!

I absolutely LOVE the bamboo handle.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  It’s comfortable and the bristles aren’t too stiff or too soft–they’re perfect.
My hair is very long and it’s very fine/straight.  Confession time: I don’t really have to brush it for detangling purposes (but I do, just to get rid of loose hair), and I also don’t blow dry it either because it dries really quickly (due to my climate).  So although I use this brush primarily for detangling/blowdrying, I have noticed that this brush is really really smooth.  The bristles don’t snag my hair, which sometimes happens with cheaper brushes.
This brush shape works the best for me but EcoTools makes a bunch of other ones–I saw an airdryer one (WHICH WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ME), a barrel one for curling.  If I ever start blowdrying my hair (more often), I think I’d go straight for these products as styling tools.  They’re so much cooler than the regular plastic Goody ones!
What do you guys think?  I liked this product but I’m more interested in their makeup brushes.  Again, I love the handles but I wonder if the brushes are soft?  I need to replace some of mine (I’m using the brushes from the Bare Minerals intro pack—they are OLD and rather scratchy. Do you guys have any recommendations?)
