IT IS OFFICIALLY FALL! I’ll still be in summer clothing for a month more but my mind is ready for sweaters and boots. I never really thought of October as a settle down and chill kind of month (I guess I automatically think about Halloween instead) but now that I think about it, settling down for a facial sounds like a really good idea. Thanks, Birchbox.
Alrighties! Do you guys like the box pattern this month? It’s very fall (to me) but I’m not really digging the print–I think I’ll recycle it and use it in my Poshmark wrapping. (GUYS I AM HOOKED ON POSHMARK)
This month, I picked the curated box.
- This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray
- Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
- Avene Hydrating Optimale Hydrating Cream RICH
- GLAMGLOW POWERMUD Dual Cleanse Treatment
- MAKE Silk Cream Lipstick
I’m really excited! Oribe and GLAMGLOW are two of my favorite beauty brands. MAKE is growing on me and the other two sound interesting enough that I’m really excited to try them. That Deep Sleep Spray is supposedly able to help you go to sleep faster. Interesting! I kind of feel like this is the first time in a while that the theme of the month actually reflected in the products that they sent us.
Hope you guys got something good!
Part 2 of the Target October Beauty Boxes! I forget which one cost more, probably this one because it had WAY more stuff (This one was $10 and the L’oreal Paris Box was $5–both were 5% off with Target Red cards and free shipping) but I enjoyed both equally.
- Goody Ouchless Silicone Lined Elastics
- Covergirl Intensify Me Eyeliner
- Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick
- RoC Deep Wrinkle Night Cream
- ACURE Moroccan Argan Oil + Stem Cell Triple Repair Shampoo & Conditioner
- Skinfix Ultra Rich Body Butter
- Hello Toothpaste
- Olly Beauty Vitamins
- S.W. Basics Certified Organic Body Scrub
Unboxed, the products barely fit back in! There’s just too much goodness for October and I. Am. Loving. It. My absolute favorite (YES THANK YOU) product in this box was the RoC Night Cream. I’ve been really lazy about going and buying a retinol night cream (I’m good and I use a retinol eye cream though) so thanks, Target! The RoC brand is occasionally on sale at Costco but it comes with 2 tubes. Share with your bestie/sister/mom?
I have not tried the eyeliner yet but I’m liking the fine tip already. I have tried the lipstick–it’s creamy without feeling too drying. I have to remember to apply some lipbalm first. The shade is a very Fall, not-too-bright mauvy pink and it’s perfect for work.
Target always throws in fun extras like vitamins (delicious! I should buy some if they go on sale) and little packets of body scrub. I think I prefer the Target box over the Walmart box, but I do enjoy Walmart’s regular quarterly schedule. What do you guys think? Since we’re on the topic of sub boxes, it seems like EVERYONE is developing a subscription! I heard Macy’s and Sephora are doing beta tests right now. I would be over the moon for a Sephora box…
Birchbox Time! There were three options this month. This box, another similarly curated (Estee Lauder related) one, and a pick-your-own-mascara option. I went with Game Face because it was more skin care heavy and although I really really really really wanted to try Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara, I have way too many tubes to go through right now. Plus, how could I say no to Anti-Aging cream and more moisturizer? I LOVE moisturizer.
Not really a surprise since this is curated but I’m pretty pleased with the quality of the samples in this box! Estee Lauder, Clinique, Smashbox, Origins, and Prescriptives make win-win products, for me anyway, so although it’s nothing ‘new,’ it’s all appreciated!
Of all of these, I’m probably most excited for the Estee Lauder creme. I’m a bit worried that it’ll be too heavy…but if it is, I’ll bring it on my next (dry, cold-weather) trip and it’ll definitely get used. I’ve tried the Clinique lotion (LOVE), Smashbox Primer (I don’t buy regularly but enjoy samples), and ORIGINS wash (also rather fond of) so I’m most curious about the Prescriptives mascara. With a name like ‘False Eyelashes Plush Mascara,’ how can you go wrong? Haha (many ways) but I’m optimistic on this one. Maybe I’ll move it higher on my mascara-to-try list. Hm.
Well anyway, Happy Monday! Hope you have a great week!
October 2012 Birchbox – Goop
- Lulu Organics Lavender + Clary Hair Powder
- Luna Bar
- Karuna Hydrating Treatment Mask
- Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (24 Hour Miracle Cream)
- Naked Princess Naked Shine Luscious Lip Gloss
So. What did you guys get? My favorite things are the mask and the Luna Bar. I’m a bit torn. I feel somewhat jilted, because the samples look so small! On the bright side, they’ll all be super useful for when I travel. Where else would I get small tiny packets of hair powder? Or a really good mask for my 10 hour flight? Thank you Birchbox!
…Or perhaps I just feel a bit jilted because the October 2012 Glam Bag looked way way way more enticing. PLUS you get a bag!
P.S. That eyeliner and mascara are theBalm products. Maybe I should pick up a MyGlam/Ipsy subscription for myself for Christmas? 😀
